Electrical Engineer

 

 

SUPERVISOR:

Engineering Manager

SUPERVISES:

No direct supervision but provides occasional guidance to other technical personnel, drafting, and manufacturing staffs.  

JOB SCOPE:  

Performs a variety of engineering work in designing, planning, and overseeing prototype construction of electrical, mechanical, electronic, or pneumatic systems used in the company's product.

Work may include a mix of onsite and offsite responsibilities.  This job requires the flexibility to perform the assignments either at a customer site, at SSM, or at a subcontractor's facilities anywhere within the world.  Travel up to 12 weeks per year in increments of 1 or 2 weeks is possible.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:  

1.   Under general supervision of Engineering Manager plan, conduct, supervise specific research assignments for product design or development.

2.   Estimate drafting and technician manpower needs and schedule work to meet completion dates for projects.

3.    Develop, verify, and document technical specifications necessary for assigned products or subsystems of products.

4.    Coordinate and supervise technicians or drafting people assigned to specific products under the engineer's direction.

5.    Maintain liaison with various other sections of the organization, specifically manufacturing, to develop input relative to product design or modification.

6.   Develop basic cost estimates relative to product design, redesign or modification and track progress until completion against cost estimates initially established.

7.  Evaluate progress and results of recommended major changes in procedures and objectives and changes in systems or subsystems which contribute to product function.

 EDUCATION, TRAINING, ORIENTATION:

Undergraduate degree in engineering and 3-5 years experience in a design environment of complicated electromechanical equipment.
